All honeybees face challenges that beekeepers must monitor and adjust for to maintain healthy colonies.  At Willow Wind, we do not use toxic synthetic chemicals or antibiotics.  Instead, we employ natural methods of pest and disease management which include procuring mite-resistant stock, managing for bee brood breaks (to break pest life cycles), and using organic pest treatments only when necessary. 

 Additionally, a honeybee's healthiest diet is the one they bring in naturally from their environment.  Though at times, beekeepers must supplement a hive's food source, we aim to leave enough honey for the bees to successfully overwinter and only feed white sugar as an emergency measure.
